The upcoming summit of the BRICS states in India will be a good opportunity for the leaders of five countries to “harmonise positions” on the issues on the international agenda, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with Sputnik and the IANS news agency.

The BRICS summit will take place October 15-16 in Goa.

“For our five countries’ leaders this meeting will be a good opportunity to harmonise our positions on key issues on the international agenda. We are determined to cooperate in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and corruption. We will also contribute to settling conflicts and ensuring international information security,” Putin said.

According to the Russian president, all BRICS states are concerned with persisting instabilities in the global economy.

“Together with our partners we will reflect on what can be done to further unite our efforts in order to address these challenges,” he added.
